About the event
Led by Kerri Homerick, a doctoral candidate in Jungian and archetypal depth psychology, this experiential workshop invites participants to explore the shadow through the coalescing lenses of Jungian depth psychology, somatic awareness, and art making. In Jungian psychology, the shadow refers to aspects of the psyche that remain on the fringes of conscious awareness—qualities, perspectives, emotions, and impulses that have been disowned, repressed, or simply not yet recognized.
In this workshop, art as process serves as a medium for engagement with these normally difficult-to-access aspects of the psyche, where emerging images, colors, and forms are understood as expressions of unconscious material. Participants will also be guided in attending to what depth-oriented traditions call the somatic unconscious—the ways unconscious material is carried and communicated through the body—appearing in sensations, tensions, impulses, postures, holding patterns, and spontaneous memories and images. Through education, somatic attunement, and creative expression, Kerri will provide a container for safely engaging the shadow. Here, the intention is to cultivate a more conscious, intimate, and reciprocal relationship with an unknown or lesser-known aspect of self, other, and/or world.
⭐️ No experience necessary! This process is not necessarily about technique but about coming into a more intimate relationship with yourself and the world through the creative process.
WHAT TO EXPECT:

MEET KERRI HOMERICK Kerri, a doctoral candidate in Jungian and archetypal depth psychology, is a somatic therapist, educator, writer, and artist whose individual and group sessions integrate depth psychology, somatics, spirituality, ecology, and creative expression. In addition to her PhD candidacy, Kerri is a certified somatic practitioner and meditation facilitator whose work has been published by the Academy of American Poets and the Jungian academic Journal Personality Type in Depth. Grounded in depth psychology, her approach is oriented around the inseparable relationship between psyche, body, and world, and seeks to honor psychology in what Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés considers its truest sense: psukhē/psych (soul); ology (logos)—a knowing of the soul.
